Heritage Research AW12

I've been a big fan of UK brand Heritage Research for a while now, so it's always exciting to see their new season's offerings. This little lot was announced back in August, and should be hitting online stores any day now. I've picked out a few of the most intriguing pieces below (in order): the US Navy N-1 style jacket; duck hunter camo (natch);  work gloves worn as city outerwear, practical hat for those who wear spectacles; reddy & red marl socks.

Ebay Pick: Autumnbones

Discovered Autumnbones on Ebay a week ago. Normally I wouldn't divulge my sources, but this stuff is just too good not to share. As this goes to press they have no listings, but just a few days ago they had a whole bunch of incredible vintage European and Brit workwear (1920's, 30's & 40's), mostly well worn and repaired and with amazing patinas, plus some pretty fresh NOS stuff too. Add to your top sellers now.

tokyobike

Tokyobike started out life in, er, Tokyo, and have since opened bricks and mortar stores in Australia, Singapore, Spain and London, as of April this year. They produce a range of simple, fun and stylish bikes in gents and ladies, and geared and single speed flavours. While I'm not sure what the benefit of having the seat stays not-quite meet the top tube joint might be, it certainly looks nice. And I'm really not usually interested in that sort of thing. These bikes are really made for fun riding, as you can see by the pictures on their website, and they just make me think of lazy city Sunday rides with the missus. Perfect.

L'Eroica

Annual vintage bicycle race L'Eroica is right up my street. Its a return to the masculinity and grit of mid twentieth century sportives, as well as a display of affection for the fashion and flair of bygone cycling eras. Event sponsors Le Coq Sportif have just dropped their beautiful 2012 L'Eroica collection, sensitively reproducing heritage details like single chest and rear pockets on jerseys, mesh backs on gloves and some subdued but rich colourways. My faves below:
Full collection/lookbook &c. here. They do girl versions too. Pastoral Review vintage jerseys available as soon as anyone takes an interest.

O'Hanlon Mills Camp Socks

Picked up a tasty double pack of these the other day. I can't find anything about O'Hanlon Mills online, so it's maybe made up, but it looks like as well as nice socks, they also make backpacks, laptop cases &c. Their 'camp socks' come in a bunch of different colours/patterns but my fave are these unusual red marl, which really jazz up my 9-5 outfit (brogues and denim), and will go perfectly with hiking boots, Birkenstocks & Bean boots too. They're also ideal for after that post-outdoorsy-shower time when you need something cosy to slouch around in with a beer.

Merry Christmas

Well, a little but early perhaps but here's something to look forward to:
I went down to their hugely enjoyable Summer fete a few months ago, so it's nice to see a repeat. This one looks even bigger, with appearances from tons of great folks. For full info head over to the Vulpine blog. Plus its held at the ever charming Balham Bowls Club.
